Stroke: a condition in which the brain cells suddenly die because of a lack of oxygen.
So, how do you recover from a stroke?
Four Seasons Member Dan Miller does not have full usage of his right arm and leg due to a stroke he had 15 years ago. Dan and his Personal Trainer Steve Keist tell us a little bit about Dan’s fitness and motivation post-stroke.
Steve is a Personal Trainer at Four Seasons (read his bio here) and has been training with “Dan the Man” for four years.
Steve said, “Dan puts in 100% on his workouts and is not afraid to try new exercises that I challenge him with. Although some exercises are challenging for him because of his disability, he does not give up. Dan is not just a client, he is a good friend as well. We have fun while getting in a good workout. Dan never misses a session, he is here 5 days a week and I train him for three of those days. He truly is an inspiration to all of us. He is ‘Dan the Man!'”
Dan told us he has been a member of Four Seasons and in personal training since 2003. He loves to workout and Steve is always pushing him and coming up with new things to keep him interested and motivated. He’s seen the biggest gains in his upper body-chest, arms, back, etc. Also, he’s been able to maintain and even improve upon what function he has remaining in his right side due to the stroke.
Dan also said his favorite experience at Four Seasons is being able to do things with his body now that he never thought he would be able to do.
